Welcome to my website!
I am Nadja, a passionate essence expressionist. My art explores the deep meaning of being human and invites you to find inner peace with yourself and others.
EssenceExpressionism: an evolution of expressionism
In the early 20th century, traditional expressionism produced artists such as Van Gogh, Munch and Gauguin who defied the conventions of their time. With distorted forms and vivid colours, they expressed their own subjective reality and invited viewers to delve deep into their emotional worlds.
As the founder of EssenceExpressionism, I would like to go one step further, because I am not interested in depicting my subjective reality. Rather, I want to invite every person to immerse themselves in THEIR innermost truths, emotions and therefore their essence. My portraits open the door to this.
With my artistic work, I bow deeply to the individuality of each person and to who we are, far removed from social conventions, algorithms and social media. In this respect, I also oppose the phenomena of our time, or offer an alternative to them. Our faces not only reveal answers to profound life questions, but also our challenges, possibilities and limitations. We often disagree with what we see, and our interpretations can lead us to hide from parts of ourselves or suppress our true thoughts and desires. The colourful interplay with all the other colours of our personality is often overlooked.
EssenceExpressionism recognises no ‘good’ or ‘bad’. It builds bridges to open us up to all inner facets and therefore has my unconditional love, devotion and humility.
My vision
I believe that every person can live their purpose joyfully when they are connected to their inner sources of strength and follow the uniqueness of their being. It is not about being perfect, but about being authentically ourselves. I strive to create encounters that are characterised by deep understanding and mutual acceptance and that help us to find inner peace with ourselves and others.
My past
Born in 1969, I have had a varied professional career: from bank clerk to graduate in foreign trade, through various positions in industry to self-employment in communications and marketing. Dealing with my ‘thousand faces’ has left a deep impression on me. My facets have shown me that each face is not only a space of experience, but also a key to understanding human complexity.
By the way, I have always painted.
My invitation to you
Let yourself be celebrated and explore your own essence through my art. Let us unveil the beauty of your individual humanity together.
The uniqueness is not in the number of colors but in what holds the colors together. Once-me based on a photograph by Nico Syzmkowiak.

Be free! And thank you ever so much for your peaceful presence while I was painting you!

The magic lies not (only) in the colors you see, but also in those you don’t (anymore) see. Faces speak volumes (but not all are labeled).

What is the greatest expression of myself, that I would like to be?”
